The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew H. George MacGillivray Memorial Award

H. George MacGillivray (1920 – 1984) was a dedicated member of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew. He served as President from 1965 to 1966, and was an avid volunteer for the Society. 

In honour of his service, the H. George MacGillivray Memorial Award was established in 1985. This award is presented during the Feast of Saint Andrew to an individual or group who have demonstrated outstanding service to the Society during the preceding year:

Terms of Reference:

This award shall be known as the “The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew H. George MacGillivray Memorial Award.” 
  1. The award shall consist of a Georgian Pewter Mug approximately six inches in height mounted on a circular wooden base two- and one-half inches high; seven- and one-half inches in diameter at the bottom; five- and one-half inches in diameter at the top. The individual engraved plaques displaying the recipient’s name and date of award shall be mounted on the base. One side of the Georgian Mug shall bear the crest of The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew. The reverse side of the Georgian Mug shall bear the inscription “The H. George MacGillivray Memorial Award.” The recipient shall receive a smaller Pewter Mug which will be his/hers to retain forever but the larger mounted Mug shall remain always in the possession of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Trustees. The recipient’s Mug shall bear his/her name; date of the award; the inscription “The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew H. George MacGillivray Memorial Award.”


  2. The Award shall be presented at the Feast of Saint Andrew. 

  3. The Award shall be presented for outstanding service to the Society during the preceding twelve months. It shall not necessarily be presented annually. 

  4. All nominations for the Award with supporting recommendation shall be filed with the Corresponding Secretary not later than October 31. The Awards Committee shall consider the eligibility of each candidate and shall make a recommendation for the Award to the Executive. 

  5. Any Regular Member or Associate Member in good standing that is, all dues paid in full, may submit the name of any member to be considered for the Award. 

  6. Nominations for the Award must be accompanied by supportive recommendation on the nominee’s qualifications for such honor. 

  7. The Nominee must be a Regular Member or an Associate Member in good standing that is, all dues paid in full.
